Of course, that makes sense doesn't it?

According to Neil Young there's a song in North Ontario called 'Helpless'. Well there's a town in Northern England currently called Blackburn which could soon be renamed Hopeless and Clueless if the latest footballing story concerning its club Blackburn Rovers is to be believed.

Rovers new owners have apparently offered Ronaldinho a deal worth £20 million over three years. Now two years ago when he was 28, at the peak of his footballing powers and just about to leave Barcelona this might have made sense - to Manchester City. But he turned City down and went to A C Milan where he hasn't made the impact the club thought he would. This season he has played only three league games for the Rossineri and yet the Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group from India are willing to pay stupid money for him to play in the bottom half of the Premier League.

The man who has had Ronaldo, Kaka, Clarence Seedorf, Xavi and Lionel Messi as team mates over the past few years will be lining up alongside Brett Emerton, El Hadji Diouf and Jason Roberts, it's not only stupid from a financial and footballing perspective but it's cruel on a human rights level. This apparently isn't the end of the Venky's madness, incidentally they only paid £23 million for the club so £20 million on one players wages does show some commitment, they are keen to sign David Beckham. No doubt this will be followed by the signings of Meadowlark Lemon and Fred 'Curly' Neal, I mean why stop at just two Globetrotters?
