When the devil vomits in your helmet

I took the afternoon off work today for the purpose of shooting a model at Hythe in Southampton this evening. I wanted to get some images of her with the sun just going down, I've not done any location shoots this year and time is running out to try and capture the summer sun as it sinks slowly beneath the horizon.

Everything was arranged about a month ago and all was fine until 11:30 this morning when I got an e-mail from her telling me that one of her ponies was ill and that she might have to cancel due to taking the animal to the vet. Before I had the chance to reply to this she sent me a second e-mail saying that everything was now okay and that the shoot was on but could we change it to fashion and lingerie and shoot at her house. That wasn't a problem per se, although it did take away the chance to shoot what I had intended to shoot, as I have lights and a light stand, tripod, umbrella, reflectors etc and I was hoping that the house would be south (ish) facing so that we could get some decent natural light.

This afternoon at 4:05, just fifty five minutes before I was due to leave home for the forty five minute journey to Hythe I got a text message to say the shoot is off. It's the closest to a shoot that I have had a cancellation, beating the previous record of six hours by some distance.
