Works Everytime

It's that time of year when we try and round up the usual suspects and give them a gentle reminder that it's only three months to go until they have to file their 2012 Tax Return. It sounds like a long time but we are already seven months into the next tax year and everybody should by now have received all the relevant documentation to enable our tax department to do their job.

Anyway we have been chasing one particular client since May, simply because we knew that she would be getting a tax refund, something we hadn't told her until this week. We knew about the refund because she had started a part-time job last year in addition to her company directorship and was on emergency code. The client repeatedly denied all knowledge of having received a P60 until a colleague of mine decided to mention the refund and guess what, having been told that the refund should be around £300 the client suddenly appears with P60 in hand. "I decided I need a new pair of boots," she said.

Here's Nancy and her boots for that client

Glad to be of service. I was being a touch sarcastic about the time difference. btw do they still talk of Jeff Astle's miss down Guadalajara way?

Well, I filled in my on-line Self Assessment Form this afternoon. I regard it as a minor miracle that I get to the end of it all without a major blunder on my part!

The staff at HMRC must have vast reserves of patience.
