A plan so cunning it could be a weasel

Span has a post about the upcoming Eastleigh by-election, I know the area quite well having been the auditor of a group of companies based there for twenty odd years, in fact when the company first started life it's accounts department occupied an office above the local Labour party. I couldn't offer an educated guess on how the polling will go except to say I think all three traditional main parties are going to be smarting one way or another.

Anyway my post wasn't about the voting per se but about the way that UKIP are promoting themselves. This is the 'traditional' blackberries and custard poster for the party

and this is the poster for the UKIP candidate Diane James.

remind you just a little bit of anything?

  1. The background of the poster is not a million miles away from a very common Windows wallpaper.

Maybe UKIP are trying to offer the voter something with air of familiarity and, in a way, safety.

  2. Hi Shy - that was exactly my thought - the second para not the Windows wallpaper - it's very conservative isn't it.

  3. I think the comment above is a bit rash...

Yes that poster is clearly deigned to appeal to Yellow/Blue Hants.

Funnily enough last year I wa strying to expalin to a bunch of Ukippers online that they needed a change of image (apart from the pound sign) and suggested dark green in stead of the yellow, sounds equally awful but I had the Wimbledon Tennis colours in mind.
