Number 9 Dream?

This happened a couple of weeks ago but it is worth bringing to a wider audience and updating the original story which was about Michael Jackson signing for Atletico Goianiense.

Jackson has now been joined by Ricardo Jesus who has signed on loan from CSKA Moscow and joins an illustrious band of famously monikered brothers. Lining up alongside Jesus (yes I know it's pronounced Hey-Zus but bear with me) and Michael Jackson are John Lennon and Mahatma Gandhi for the Brazilian Serie B club.

Michael Jackson's real name is Carlos Adriano Sousa Cruz but he is usually known by his nickname which he earned for his eccentric goal celebration where he imitates the late pop star's moonwalk dance, I have no idea whether or not he raises a gloved hand and screams "Ooow!". Defender John Lennon was baptised John Lennon Silva Santos, and Mahatma, full name Mahatma Gandhi Heber Pio.

I notice that the squad also includes a player known as Rafael Gladiador (Gladiator) and a midfielder Dodo who apparently hasn't  been seen in action since an away trip to Mauritius in 1662.

  1. hahaha, excellent. Reminds me of an old post with a comment about Latin habit of names for children that are like 'famous' English words: YesaidĂș Juan-Jondre, which are obviously "Yes, I do" and "One hundred".
