How Easily The Patina of Success is Tarnished By The Application of Failure

Had my first no-show today. Fashion shoot arranged weeks ago. Studio paid for, thirty red, white and blue balloons blown-up and tied, flags ready, backdrop in place, lights tested and working but no model.

Made me think of that line from Friends when Ross is having problems in the trouser department much to Rachel's annoyance who, having apparently forgiven him, shouts at him, "Hey, just so you know: it's 'not' that common, it 'doesn't' "happen to every guy, " and it 'is' a big deal! ."

I am waiting for a reply from the model in question as we speak. But hey, nobody died and life goes on. I have my swine flu jab on Tuesday and given that the jab for 'regular' flu which I had last Monday has resulted in me having a second bout of flu I can't wait!

I had an "ordinary" flu jab at the beginning of last month and it made me ill for about a day. I think I might get offered a swine flu jab when they get round to it up here what with diabetes and hypertension.

Like you say, a model not turning up is annoying but in the greater scheme of things... ...

Welcome back Shy, glad you came through the jab okay.

Everyone I've mentioned the swine flu jab to has said they wouldn't have it, rather take their chances!

I've not really been away. We've had a new kitchen fitted and we needed quite a bit of electrical work done so we were without the computer for several days.

As for the swine flu jab....I'd have one.

Why have it if you have the normal flu jab? Don't they cover the same things? The number of different starins means you should be having about 100 or more flu jabs.

I can happily admit that I've never had, nor do I plan to have, a flu jab...cue worst inluenza symptoms within a day!

Well I said yes without thinking and now I have to go through with it otherwise I get put on a DNA list (did not attend) which makes me a bad person apparently.

Nadine contacted me tonight to say her no show was down to food poisoning and she still wants to work with me. Can't see how that stopped her phoning me as she managed to check the e-mail I sent her this morning whilst being sick.

I'm getting too old and cynical!

That is a bit annoying isn't it!

Mind you with a name like Nadine (memeories!) and no doubt a bit of a looker* I'm sure I would forgive her; no doubt you too ;-)

* Unless your photo shoot was a minger/2 bagger special (apologies)
