Back To Work (and Other Things)
The worse thing about returning to work is being confronted by that pile of work you decided before Christmas to put off until the New Year. Well the New Year has arrived and that pile is showing no signs of going down!
I've made one fundamental decision about how I'm going to try and work this year, better organisation. Everybody in the office is going to be on the practice management software and proper job control is going to be the order of the day. Of course I know from experience that as soon as everybody is running around like a blue arse whatsit any system will be put to one side on the grounds of 'we're too busy' but like those vegetables you leave until after you've eaten all the meat they won't go away.
Best news of the year so far is that Laura has decided to stay, this is great because we've always been able to work together without any conflicts or egos and so taking the practice forward will be less of a grind and more of a challenge. The only downside I can see is that you know who doesn't know what's going to happen, sometimes work is just like being back at school.
On a personal level I've decided that looking forward more must be my aim this year, along with of course living in the moment (see I'm still a hippy at heart). I've booked one holiday all ready and have two others planned, that plus turning 50, celebrating 25 years of marriage and our mortgage finishing all add to the positivity. It's a big year for Nathalie as well and we are hoping that everything works out for her in terms of exams.
