Some more lunchtime research shows that between 1st May 1997 and 31st December 1998 118 Acts of Parliament were passed. Of those 118, 10 were for Scotland, 2 were for Northern Ireland and 12 were repealed before 2000.
Since May 2010 55 Acts of Parliament have been added to the statute.
No, I don't know what it means/proves/illustrates* either.

It proves New Labour made a massive noise but not a lot of headway. It may seem odd to think but the Coalition have done a darn sight more in the first year and a half) than Blair's first term but NL had the big things like minimum wage, devolution etc.
For me, it highlights the ludicrous notion that you can change society by making lots of new laws. It is government by numbers and, unfortunately, a concept welcomed (and supported) by people who are basically thick.
I agree with both of you and I think that it shows that the Coalition are learning from Labour's mistakes.
