Social But No Class
British women, why do they lack class?
How can the country that produced Julie Christie, Jacqueline Bissett and er, that's it, regard the likes of Jade Goody as role models? I was in Christchurch yesterday afternoon and the one thing that is blindingly obvious is that English women can't hold a candle to their French, Spanish or Italian counterparts when it comes to clothes or caring about their appearance.
When did showing your arse or your tattoos become considered socially acceptable, they look hideous. We are turning into a nation of lard arses, women with huge tits and arses wobbling down the High Street in search of their next Snickers Ice-Cream. I saw one women walking down the street with the word Juicy across the back of her jeans, she was advertising the name of a fashion house but you only knew that if you got close and personal.
My old boss had only one rule for dress code in the office and that was that women must wear skirts, dresses or suits that included a skirt. Now I know he was an old lech but he had a point, skirts look smarter than trousers they give the appearance of professionalism. With the weather being hotter all the women in our office have ditched their trousers and come to work in skirts, except Billie Piper of course who comes to work dressed in dresses designed by D & G that cost more than the other women earn in a month. I know it's more hygienic for women to wear skirts in warm weather so why not all the time, after all we have a centrally heated office.
It can work the other way of course, many years ago I actually sent a young trainee home to get changed. We were going to a client and as she walked up the stairs in our office her skirt rode up to the top of her thighs showing her stockings, suspenders and knickers. I told her no way was she representing the firm by going out dressed like that. If I tried that today I'd probably be accused of infringing her human rights, the right to flash her underwear at who she chooses.

Some of it might be down to cost Paul, decent and classy clothes on 'the continent' seem to be more available and cheaper than 'down-market' UK; having said that whereever I go there seems to be more bellies out, tattoos showing scruffy bedraggled looking women and girls everywhere...but other countries just don't do 'fat slag in tight mini clothes' like the Brits can.
I agree about the affordable clothes Span - in two weeks time we will be in France and my daughter already has her shopping list drawn up!
I don't know why UK girls want to be so 'laddish' for want of a better word.
