Whilst we are on the subject of yesterday's match, I'm getting a bit worried about the form of Xabi Alonso - not because I have any particular love for Liverpool but because I think Alonso is one of the best foreign imports into the Premiership in the last few years.
I didn't hear his name mentioned until about an hour of the game had passed and I wonder if he's begin to suffer from playing too many games in a short period of time.
Since Alonso signed from Real Sociedad, in August 2004 for £10.5m, he has played 32 games in the 2004-5 season and 52 games in the 2005-6 season. During this period Liverpool's number 14 has also had two serious injuries, the first of which kept him out of football for three months after Fat Frank had tried DIY ankle surgery on him at Anfield.
He'll have to keep playing whilst Sissoko is out and hopefully he'll play through this lean spell.
