Big Mouth Strikes Again
Remember those far off days when Maureen wanted everybody to respect him and say how wonderful Chelsea were, how he wanted the neutral to embrace his teams style of play?
Well he's lost the support of a lot of neutrals by once again opening his mouth and putting his Gucci loafers in it. The man who taught Deco the art of of diving, the manager whose Porto team wasted so much time in the UEFA Cup Final against Celtic that 'stoppage' time was calculated using a lunar calendar rather than the refs watch, the man who has managed to get the best out of some of footballs great under achievers and mould a team of eight decent players and three World Class players into a good side, has gone one step too far.
Accusing Eidar Gudjohnssen of being a diver is the most stupid thing he has said in a long run of stupid things, he's football's equivalent of the Moustrap when it comes to moaning longevity. Okay, he is deflecting the 'pressure' away from his players, although quite how much pressure somebody who is on £120,000 a week win or lose is actually under is a moot point.
I used to like Maureen, Patrick Barclay's book on him is one of the best football biographies I have read, it shows the 'chosen one' to be somebdoy who is desperate to succeed and desperate to be, if not loved, at least admired - but I'm afraid now he's lost this neutral.
Alex Ferguson is the best at pulling the wagons into a circle and protecting his players, Arsene Wenger is pretty good too, Maureen now comes across as boorish, a person with too much media time available and not enough to say.

I think he's brought most of it on himself Sarnia although I might concede some of it is OTT.
I have to say that people like Maureen are one reason why my 40-odd year love affair with football is coming to an end. Of course, he is not alone but it is unfortunate how easily he seems to have descended into it all since his arrival in this country.
