Ever Felt You've Been had?

Let me state straight away that I have sympathy with anybody who loses a loved one and as somebody who has used their blog as a form of catharsis it would be hypocritical of me to say somebody shouldn't use the written medium to express their thoughts.

However I am completely bemused by this woman. To go through the ordeal to begin with, then losing her boyfriend, then the suspicion that she was guilty before her kidnapper and boyfriends murderer was locked up could, and maybe should, have been the end of it.

But no, she writes a book that is serialised in The Times. What could the book possibly offer its potential readership other than voyeurism of the worst kind. What could anybody possibly learn from her story other than the fact that life sometimes sucks and people you love die?

There can't be any pay-off for the reader can there? If you read say, Lance Armstrong's two books you come away thinking 'Shit, I really ought to get off my lardy/boney arse and do some exercise, this man beat cancer twice and became one of the top three road racing cyclists the world has ever seen.' If you read this woman's book what do you learn? Don't go into the outback without good back-up and a big gun?

I bet that if you asked 10 women if they think she's guilty despite the trial verdict more than half will say yes.

Next week she's on Simon Mayo's programme, I can't listen to it but I'd love to see the feedback on the station board. If Simon has any balls he'll put aside his Mr Nice Guy image, forget she's there to plug her book and ask her why she thinks people still believe she was complicit in her boyfriends death.

Do you really think she was responsible for her boyfriends death?
From what I can recall I don't remember thinking she was guilty.
Different case perhaps?

I don't have an opinion on the murder case - it's just the celebritisation of our lives I object to.

Welcome to Tabloid Britain.

She's been in Australia promoting the book and doing the rounds of the radio and tv stations...
