Sorry About The Weather Last Night

If you had a horrendous night with the storm last night it could be my fault, you see I went to church yesterday and it was probably payback time.

It was the Christening of my cousin Simon and his wife Nicky's youngest daughter Lauren, it was a chance to catch-up with relatives, sing a few hymns and listen to a sermon where the Vicar rivalled Eddie Izzard for the number of meandering paths he wandered down before bringing us back to the point. I have to say it was quite professional in its own way.

Nathalie and Janis were shocked that I attacked the hymn singing with such gusto, seeing as I bat for the enemy, but as I said to them I wasn't seeking any sort of salvation it was because we were there for Simon and his family.

Afterwards the family and friends of those involved retired to the church hall and spent a good three hours chatting about everything and nothing, the way you do with relatives and strangers at these times and, without sounding condescending, it was a pleasant enough way to spend a Sunday morning.

I was at a christening yesterday and I like you attacked the singing with great gusto. I do like a good sing song.

The sermon was also very good, it was addressing Trevor Phillips' concerns about ex-communicating christian BNP members which the vicar wholly disagreed with, but he concurred with the view that the BNP should be discouraged from aligning themselves with christianity. I found it mildly amusing that the vicar called himself a wet leftie.

To me, hymns are like pop songs in a way : some are good and others are complete tripe.

Anyway, it makes no difference to me. The terms of the Geneva Convention prevent me from singing in public.

Six - the thing that impressed me was how he brought so many historical and current references into play, he did say that although his main hero had done voluntary work he couldn't see himself working for nothing.

It's good to have a good sing sometimes Shy, mind you I agree on the hymns thing. Still, you've got your guitar(s) to do your singing for you.
