That's Work Over For Another Year
Well that's that then for another year, the last minute panic that would have involved working on Friday didn't materialise and the office closed at five past five and won't re-open until 2nd January 2007.
It's been a strange year, satisfying, disappointing, rewarding - all the things you'd expect any twelve month period to have. I can't say there were any definite highlights, covering for Angela for six weeks whilst she had her op and then convalseced at home was something you look back on with pride rather than enjoy at the time. Getting Squirrel a stay of execution was a personal success, but she must get a job before the end of January as she is too fragile to cope with redundancy. Mary, the brightest star in the office, missed out on qualifying as a Chartered Accountant by 1% would you believe - four years studying, passing all the exams on the way and then misses out by 1% - incredible - the worst thing is she only has one more try because of the time bar regulations.
The usual suspects have pissed me off this year and to be honest I can't wait until Chocloate Teapot goes off on maternity leave and we can get somebody in who can actually do a full weeks work, incidentally Angela went to a meeting of her tax group last week and CT had a reputation at her old employers of being off sick too often - times change but people don't.
Grumpy Parrot was equally unhelpful, during Angela's absence when I could really done with some back-up all he could do was make snide comments or hide in his office - Mind you he's paid for it (literally) slipping from second best paid in the office to fifth, I know these things shouldn't give me satisfaction but when somebody has the same status as you but makes himself invisible rather than helps, you tend to get pissed off big time.
Oh and as P.S to the annual appraisals I've been asked to name my price - funny thing is that even if I ask for the top market rate my annual salary will still only be a third of Michael Ballacks weekly take home. Could somebody please persuade Mr Murdoch that accountancy would make excellent television in 2007!
