Much Rejoicing In The Woodlands Tonight
Less than forty days into the new year and some good news, Squirrel has a new job.
It couldn't have come at a better time because the axe was going to fall this Friday, I was tempted to tell her not to hand in her notice until Monday but she would still be devastated getting the push - new job or not. I feel very relieved in a strange kind of way, as you all know I've done my bit to keep her in work and now I feel some sort of mission accomplished feeling.
I have learned one very valuable lesson over the past four or five months though and that is that I could never run an office on my own, manage on behalf of somebody else yes, but I'm too soft and too caring about people I care about to be the big bad wolf. Of course people see this in me and take advantage but on balance life is too short and as long as we pull together and get the job done then it really is mission successful.
See, I really am a cardigan wearing, tofu eating, tree hugging, big left softie Hector.

What a relief for you Paul.
I agree with you here, Paul. I think a successful manager should have 10-15% bastard in them so that the tough decisions can be made. There are three or four people here who would get sacked elsewhere but the bosses don't have the stomach for all the hassle it would cause.
It is quite unusual to see ourselves as others see us! You cardigan wearing, tofu eating, tree hugging, big left softie Hector, you!
