This Marriage Gig Isn't Too Difficult Is It?

Well we made it. Seven days of 24/7 closeness without the need to resort to sharp implements to make a point or the threat of "I'm off to my mothers."

Apart from two days in Cornwall in May 1995 this is the longest Janis and I have spent together since before Nathalie was born nearly thirteen years ago. Last year when Nathalie went to London for the week I was at work in the day and Janis in the evening, so this past week has been a bit of a social experiment as they would say at Endemol.

It's been great, really great. I suppose the decorating and refurnishing has kept us both focused on achieving something but we've also talked more, you know really talked not just quick snippets between getting up and going to work or after Janis comes in at night and going to bed.

Nathalie has come home and spent the best part of seven hours asleep since returning to the U.K this lunchtime. She did however have the chance before going to bed to give her opinion on our handy work, "Wow! Cool, that's really cool."

She enjoyed the skiing so much that she wants to go again in two years time, we said that's fine as long as she doesn't expect us to decorate her room again.

I've found, over the years, that doing stuff like decorating together is a much better way of spending time together than you might think.

Perhaps shared tasks and common goals have a "tendency" (if that's the right word) to bring people closr.

Pleased that Nathalie was appreciative of your efforts. Always a worry. Son has informed me this evening that he wants his room painted dark red. Yikes!

So, now you have to wait another two years for some quality time together. That's a long time....

You're right Shy and having enjoyed last week so much we will now make time, rather than trying to squeeze it in between other duties.

Dark red, crikes! Problem with any dark colours is when you change your mind (or your son changes his) - all that paint you need to cover it up.

Good you and Janis Paul!

He's thinking brothel Mags, nowt wrong with that! Really...

Gavin, he better not be thinking of brothels! Actually I think I have got to the bottom of it. Think Bob Marley and you are closer to what he is thinking. The order is now for red at the bottom, green border and yellow up top. No doubt the oversize pictures of Bob and the weed follow soon after.
