And so it's goodbye Squirrel
You know when somebody hands in their notice, there is often a backlash from the rest of the office, you are no longer considered part of the team and people have a less than helpful attitude towards you.
Well it's worked in reverse in our office!
Everybody has tried to make the last month of Squirrel's six years with us as pleasant as possible and run smoothly, whilst she has hated every second of it. The girls are taking her out to lunch, I was invited but declined, they've been driving me up the wall the past three days and I couldn't sit there being all sociable for an hour or so. Bah Humbug!
Anyway it's the end of an episode of my working life that has had it all: tears, laughter, shouting, the throwing of files - none of it from me mind. I've never been one for missing colleagues once they leave, I'm not a hard arse it's just that come Monday the office needs to be up and running again so there's little time for sentimentalism after she's gone.
I wish her well and hope that somewhere down the line the inner turmoil that has dogged her for so long with vanish and that she'll find inner piece, happiness and if she's lucky somebody to love and who will love her in return.
Thanks for the couple of thousand days you were part of my working day Squirrel.
