If Protestants have a work ethic what do Catholics do whilst the Protestants are working? Are they sat at home, feet up, toasting the picture of the pope on the living room wall, or are they counting the money they have earned from their exploitation of their Protestant work force?

I ask, not to upset my Catholic friends but merely to query the historical accuracy of the phrase.

Incidentally, my experience, as a young man it must be said, of Catholic girls is that, to borrow from Blackadder, "they generally bang like the privvy door when the plague is in town." Is this casting off of their undewear a metaphor for casting aside their convent upbringing or are bible teachings the long lost aphrodisiac?
