A Bit Of An Anti-Climax

Well after all the build-up, all the pre-match hype and all the speculation it turned out to be rather a one sided affair. Very rarely does the meal do the menu justice and this was another case in point, one side simply too good for the other.

Tactics play an important part of sport at the top level and you couldn't help thinking as the match unfolded that one side had got their tactics seriously wrong. The early breakthrough came and it wasn't from an entirely unexpected source, what you had to hope for then was that the opposition would be strong enough to put up the fight that all watching neutrals, and their own supporters, hoped they would be capable of.

There was a brief rally towards the end but it was too little too late, class had told once again, now we can all look forward to the final and hope that Sri Lanka provide tougher opposition than South Africa did for the all conquering Australia side.
