In an era when somebody like Paul Collingwood can get an O.B.E, there is, as Jim White puts it, a collective guilt in the football world about how the only Englishman to captain our football team to World Cup glory was shamefully ignored during his lifetime, with the exception of an O.B.E - even that makes me annoyed the thought that somebody like Steve Harmison has the same three letters after his name as Bobby Moore.

Anyway, this isn't about those feelings it's to celebrate and commemorate a truly great footballer. It is fitting that this statue should be unveiled the week before the Cup Final returns to Wembley after seven years away, it is of a player who graced the old stadium in Cup Finals on four occasions: 1964, 1965, 1966 and 1975 and many more times as captain of his country.

So, Steve Harmison has the same letters after his name as Bobby Moore? Yes, I can see why you think it's a travesty. However, I have the same letters after my name as Stephen Hawking. We are both B.Sc., Ph.D. However, Stephen Hawking can put "Professor" in front of his name, something which I will never be able to do.

I suggest the answer lies in the title before the names of Messrs Harmison and Moore.

Sir Bobby Moore : that would separate the wheat from the chaff, wouldn't it?
