Shit Happens, But Always To The Wrong People

So weasely Ken Beast has done it again, put his hand in his pocket and bought a club for loose change. If the West Ham fiasco stinks so does the Leeds United going into administration on Friday and being bought half an hour later by its chairman stink even more.

KPMG claimed that under the circumstances i.e a club that was brought to its knees by business practices that would have most people scratching their heads said that "the club had a history of debts and wage structure that were nothing to do with the current administration," and they were left with no choice.

But they did have a choice, they could have looked for investors to come in and clear the debts - you know those debts that are owed to people who live and work in Leeds. Those debts that pay people's wages, the wages that real people depend on to support themselves and their families. The problem is that once again reality and football don't mix. There's no forced closure, no selling of assets.

KPMG statement said: "Shortly after their appointment the joint administrators agreed to sell the business and its assets to a newly formed company. This company is called Leeds United Football Club Limited, the directors of which are Ken Bates, Shaun Harvey and Mark Taylor. A cash injection of approximately £10m is required to continue trading. The sale of the club is subject to approval by its creditors, via a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). The creditors' meeting, to consider the CVA, will be held before the end of May. The Football League will also need to approve the sale."

Former Chelsea chairman Bates hailed a new era for the club - but also criticised the old regime for incurring huge debts. Well, in the words of Mandy Rice Davies "he would say that wouldn't he?"

Ask anybody of a certain age and they will tell you how delighted we would have been to see Leeds United start off in the old Third Division ten points adrfit of the rest of the clubs. I mean how could it be bettered, Ken Bates, Leeds United and the taxi thug himself Dennis Wise. We've been denied that but we'll get over it, will those small businesses due money for their labour get over it so easily?

I feel sorry for some of the smaller clubs in League 1 or whatever it is called these days, who will not have a clue how to steward the Leeds fans next year.
