Deep Breaths, Keep Taking Deep Breaths

40,000 England fans are making their way to the City of Lights as we speak all believing that dreams can come true. This World Cup has been so exciting and taken so many unexpected twists and turns that you know the games tonight and tomorrow night will provide the watching millions with drama, spectacle and disappointment for one group of supporters at each match.

Despite the French public being constantly reminded that Rugby Union is a game played by peasants from the South West of the country more than 18 million tuned in to watch the game against the All Blacks last weekend and given the opposition and the importance of this match I imagine that number will be surpassed.

I saw my mate Chris this morning, he used to play for Wasps and he told me he's going to watch the match in a drunken stupor that will only get worse as the game progresses. We both agreed we'd settle for a 3-0 win for England tonight and a good win for the Argentine boys tomorrow. Makes England v Estonia this afternoon seem like an afterthought.

What was Chris's surname (if you think he'll let you post it)? I know loads of ex-Wasps (in fact my bro would know most and my (dead) dad would have known them all...up to 1987 that is.

P.S. I'm short of breath already....getting all nervous...jeez!

I don't know Span! I know that sounds daft but we met at the Gym after I had ny heart problems and he had knee surgery, I know him as Chris that's all, in fact the only reason I know he played Rugby is because the woman who ran the induction course made a joke about us being in the presence of a famous sportsman. Next time I see him I'll try and steer the conversation round to his surname.

He was a forward and stopped playing about ten years ago, that much he's told me during the four years we've got sweaty together each Saturday morning.
