Let's also get away from playing competitive Under 8's on full size pitches lumping the ball up to the centre forward who has hit puberty early. Get back to basics, bring some skill into English football.

How can an item on a BBC News page be off-topic for a BBC News board?

hahaha...it's because they haven't got a pre-set reply that says "this is football and even though it's news it has to go on the footy MB so there na ner ner ner nah"....of course that would be less annoying than their patently wrong message of off-topic.
Funny thing is my computer went wrong as I hit the post button and I thought perhaps I hadn't posted it at all! I've sent a reply e-mail challenging this one.
As you know, I gave up on that board a while ago and, from your post, I'm glad I did.
Not only are there some weapons grade idiots who post on there but you have to contend with moderators as well!
I've long given up on how they run the news board at Five Live. And what is allowed and not allowed. But if you think it's bad there, the Radio 4 board is having problems. They closed the Today board which allowed posters to talk of subjects in what is meant to be a major part of Radio 4's news output each day.
And now the host seems to be causing headaches for posters trying to talk about programmes on a part of the boiard that is there to talk about...Radio 4 programmes and threads get closed or posts removed even that do not criticise presenters but try to talk about content which is needed to make it clear what you are talking about.
Whereas in general the board I use to give views is in general being handled(perhaps it's down to the posters)with a lighter touch and it is allowed to go in whatever direction it wishes to. Or is that down to the host being better at the job?
Initially, I was critical of how she ran the board but over the last year, it's much improved.
The Today board closing was weird - a message was posted on the Radio board and that was that.
