You Couldn't Make It Up
Just when you thought your sides had stopped aching from the merriment caused by the daily farce called The Newcastle United Story comes the latest priceless gem. Joe Kinnear isn't sitting in the dugout for the home game today, it's not because he didn't want to spoil the celebrations surrounding his appointment but because he still has two matches of a three match touchline ban imposed in 2004 when he was manager of Nottingham Forest.

Yesterday the BBC, in the form of Ray Stubbs, referred to Newcastle's ground as "Sid James' Park". This is what Mackems have called it for years, even when Newcastle were successful. It's beyond a joke really. On one of the occassions that Sunderland were relegated a reported 83 people at the club lost their jobs.
Talking of Nottingham Forest (and pub quizzes that Shytalk mentioned in his comment on your previous post) it was Nottingham forest who assured Arsenal's colours. When they first started as Dial Square they had no kit and two ex NF players (moved to London for work) asked their old club to lend their new team some kit! (this was the plum red not the later better-known white-sleeved pillar box red kit)
I loved the pictures of old Joe shaking his head in disbelief at the players. Paddy Barclay came out with a great line today on T.V - he said, "I'm fed up with people say you should feel sorry for Newcastle fans - they are football supporters, it's not supposed to be good all the time."
