Shape Up or Ship Out....The Aftermath
Well following last weeks meeting and subsequent discussions with staff all sorts of rumours and stories have crawled out from behind the photocopier, the most dramatic turns of events occurred on Sunday and yesterday morning.
Sunday afternoon one member of staff collapsed at home and was rushed into hospital, this was the person who I said was getting 'slack and flabby' in her approach to work. She's had heart problems for the past year or so and it was thought initially that she'd suffered a heart attack, then once that was eliminated a seizure was the possible reason - as it turned out she had fainted and then her body had gone into convulsions causing her breathing to stop.
Yesterday morning one of my fellow managers, the person who I help to run the office to be honest went to the doctor as part of a prearranged visit to try and find out why she was having dizzy spells. This afternoon she contacted me from Salisbury hospital to say she had been found to have pressure on the brain and it had been relieved by a lumber puncture. As she put it herself, one minute she was visiting the doctor with headaches the next day she's got such a pain in her lower back she can't sit down.
Next up the person who I said had completely changed the dynamic of the office has told his manager that he's fed up with doing 'shitty jobs' all the time and has asked Magoo how much he thinks the practice would pay him to go quietly! That's what I like, enthusiasm for your job. Anyway he didn't turn up for work today and I have my suspicions that he's been off job hunting.
Finally a female colleague commented on the fact that my bum looks smaller these days, she was following me up the stairs - can you imagine what the outcome of that little scenario would have been if the rolls had been reversed?

hahahaha...indeed! Sexual harrassment! By coincidence one chap here has a new phone and so was buusy taking everyone's photo and we compared them with the photos taken by teh last person to get a new phone(!!!)...and I am now beleiving everyone when they say I've lost weight, the difference in the last year is amazing (thinner face, less chin and gut...)
Sorry about all the health issues in the office! Not the best time to be job hunting though...unless you send him to the council offices ;-)
You should see the difference between me now and my holiday snaps from last year!
You seem to get times like that at work. A couple of years ago three of my wife's staff all left within about a month of each other and it was difficult for a time. Things eventually settle down though and I hope they will in your office.
I agree with your final comment about a role reversed scenario. How did you respond?
I just laughed Shy, it happened to be the member of staff I had a run in with about four years ago and she changes her mood with the weather so she could have either laughed or reported me.
