He's got it, by jove I think he's got it.

After his daft comments following the Villa game midweek fair play to Mr Wenger for the following comments:

We gave them too much room. We conceded two goals where it was a corner for us - and then a goal for them. Goals: two and three. It is a massive blow and a massive disappointment but we have to recover from that. That's part of top level football."

Arsenal were weighed, measured and found wanting and really it was all down to a classic Fergie piece of thinking. Arsenal started the game as if they wanted to win it within the first twenty minutes, Arshavin was getting plenty of the ball but playing as if his boots were tied together and Gail Clichy (didn't she marry Brian in Corrie?) showed Wes Brown the number on his shirt as he sped past him. Unfortunately Clichy was travelling so fast that by the time he reached the edge of the box the dead flies in his eyes stopped him getting a clear sight of goal.

Fergie's moment of tactical genius was to switch Scholes and Carrick around in midfield, pushing Scholes further up the field to support the boy Rooney and leave Carrick to follow Fabregas around the pitch. From that moment on there was only going to be one winner and Manchester United showed that when it comes to counter attacking they have few if any peers. An own goal by Almunia (which came as a result of some superb play by Nani) was followed by two classic United moments with both goals the result of Arsenal moves breaking down.

In the end it was so comfortable for the Champions that they could even afford to give Giggs and Berbatov a chance to stretch their legs. The last time Arsenal were embarrassed in front of Sky cameras was at home to Chelsea and they then went on a long unbeaten run, for the sake of the Premiership you have to hope it happens again, a two horse race gets very dull for the neutral.

United's next three games are at home to Portsmouth, away to Villa and then away to A C Milan, having played 'ugly' and won for part of the season they have, in the past week, hit their stride and look like a team brimming with confidence. Rooney is playing the best football of his life and you just have to hope that he can keep both his metatarsal and his wife away from John Terry for the rest of the season, then we might just have a hope in South Africa.

Well I watched on cable at 10 a.m. and have to agree with you! Rooney was superb and the second goal, which he started and finished (and to finish as he did still needed skill) after a 70 yard full pelt sprint deserves to up for goal of the month (at least)

Two things: if one or two of Arshavin's early efforts (or had he passed to a free teammate) had gone in it would have been a very different game (d'oh) and the pushing players in the back just before the ball arrives seems epidemic and not once was it whistled.

But they were very good today, if Chelsea's luck slips for a second Fergie will get anothr title.

...and once again an own goal! seems the gooners have are now the opposite from a few seasons ago: then they won or drew the big games but slipped up against the minnows.

I think it was a bad day at the office Span, they are playing some good stuff and scoring goals for fun but not this week.

By my reckoning if they don't win the Premiership this year that will make it 0/20 competition wins since the 2005 Cup Final. Could be worse, you could be West Ham!

hehehe...that's what I tell those of little faith (not WHU fans) I say what's the average league finishing position for Arsenal since Wenger arrived...it is STILL 2nd (well 2,5 or something but it isn't 3rd yet, after 16 years; now only one other English club can beat that!!) plus a couple of doubles, a few cups and a CL final.
