He's Back

Just as New Labour had the 'beast' of Bolsover to keep it honest and true to its roots, so the Conservative party have the ghost of Governments past in the shape of the Chingford Skinhead. If there are any lessons to be learned from Dennis Skinners efforts it's that the old faithful will be patted gently on the head and packed off with a packet of Werther's originals for company.

Not since the premiere of Dawn of The Dead have we seen such animation from those we had previously assumed to have politically passed on. The website critical reaction displays equal dislike for new Conservative and new Labour. The 'over my dead body' attitude of Normo Tebbs came as quite a shock to those of the population who already though the great man was dead, in fact anybody who listened to his performance on BBC Any Questions a couple of months back will know that he's very much in the Queen Elizabeth style of Conservatism, possessing as he does a great mind trapped in a weak and feeble body.

The idea of the site is apparently to act as a counter to ConservativeHome and the article Liberal Conservatism Year Zero pretty much sets the agenda. Of course this is what Labour went through in the 1980's and 1990's and whilst it may be true, as some commentators last night were insisting, that Labour will be out of power for a generation, it will be interesting to sit back and watch those who seem have formed a Conservative Dad's Army of conscientious objectors pit their keyboards against the might of central office.

Anyway, this one goes out to all those disillusioned 'old' Conservatives.

I'll be watching you and looming in the background!

That's a great site btw, popped in a few times since it began back in february or March time...the polecat hehehe...the launch was "published" on Con home which is what led me there.

As long as critisism is constructive it must be a good thing!

There is some very good writing on there and I have to say I visit Con Home most days - although I tend to ignore the infighting and just read the articles.

Labour out of power for a generation, eh? A week or two before the election a bloke form the Institute for Fiscal Studies said that whoever won the election would get dumped by the electorate on the basis of the severity of the cuts that would have to be made and that they (they winners) would not be re-elected for a generation.

Of course, only time will tell. Inreresting times, or what?

I heard that too Shy, it may be a case of bet hedging. I think the Conservatives will only be finding out now what the real deficit is and then they have some hard decisions to make.
