Mothers Eh?

Many, many, years ago, my Mum came to watch me playing in a football match, I was 15 or 16 and at some point during the match she, and a team mates Mum, became embroiled in an argument with a couple of the opposition teams Mothers.

I thought of that incident when I read about Mrs Konchesky's response to the dogs abuse her son Paul has been getting from some of the Liverpool fans. You know, Liverpool the team that has been going backwards since 1990, apart from one night in Istanbul when AC Milan lost the Champions League final. I think most people with an interest in football will accept that Konchesky isn't a Liverpool player in the 1970's/80's or 90's mould but then apart from Reina, Gerrard and Torres who is? To verbally abuse one of your own players is counter productive and really shows a lack of any thought.

Anyway Carol Konchesky has used her Facebook page to rally behind her son, who has been called a cockney c*** by some Liverpool 'supporters'.

"To all you Liverpool scum out there, never mind the cockney c***, take a look at your team, stop living off the past. The team are shit, if anyone made a mistake it's the cockney c***, he should never have left Fulham."

A Mother's love is often undervalued but a Mother's pride should never be in doubt.

On the occassions I've seen Liverpool this season I would not have picked out Konchesky as an under achiever. Some of the displays from Torres, however, have been well below par.

But since when have Scousers (or Geordies, for that matter) been objective when talking about football?

Indeed Shy. Two 'big' clubs who are among the great underachievers of recent years, or not so recent in Newcastle's case.
