Effortless Chic
Sorry about the lack of rustic sausages and cheap French wine, actually speaking of cheap wine remember when you were young and would hunt the shelves of French shops to find the cheapest bottle of serviceable plonk, 80p was my best or worst.
Anyway back to the matter in hand, Claudia Schiffer has launched her own Cashmere clothing range and the photo above was the closest I could get to illustrating the point. The launch of her collection took place today as part of Haute Couture fashion week in Paris, let's face it who else does Haute Couture but the French. Apparently Claudia has been wanting to get into fashion for years, which is strangely coincidental as many men have been wanting to get into Claudia's sweaters for years. Anyhoo, apparently she wants to design clothes that reflect what she wore as a working mum, so that will be vomit stained 'Frankie Says' t-shirts, jeans with rips in the most embarrassing places and a pair of converses that look like they've been worn through a farmyard. Well of course it won't, it will be cashmere sweaters and cashmere dresses.
Now without sounding like a stereotypical leftie I have to say that there are working mums and there are working mums and I can't think of one who wears cashmere to collect the kids from school or who could afford the £447 that the top of the range will cost, the range starts at £223.
"Effortless chic. That is the idea of it," she said at the launch.
Well I can at least console myself with the thought that whilst I am taking off my shirt and tie after another nine hour shift at the office Claudia will be somewhere in London slipping out of her cashmere dress before playing Wii tennis.
