From the gutter to the sewer

Just when you thought that the phone hacking scandal had reached its lowest point along comes this.

With doubts already cast over some of the evidence given to Parliament a couple of weeks ago and the rumours and counter claims concering Piers Morgan's role at the Mirror it seems that this story is set to run and run.

It's like "Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...it bloody well does!"

Somehow, I hope this latest allegation isn't true : it's just too awful to contemplate.

Shy, I don't think it is true: follow the link, read the headline and then read the article...now today of course the news is that Sara Payne was given the phone by the NOTW, worked for them and wrote for them it seems natural they would have her number on a list. The article says "targeted" then provide s zero evidence. It is getting increasingly odd now: there is NO direct evidence but the BBC jumps on the Guardian's 'news' and has it on all TV and radio shows (news, newsnight etc) has it as front page news online etc, funny thing is though, there is direct evidence of the left wing Mirror using hacking as a common investigative tool (and 10 times worse than NI it seems) with a former editor openly admitting to knowing about hacking activities yet there is no orchestrated BBC response: 2 stories, one based on no real evidence (yet?) and other based around real concrete evidence...one would almost think the BBC wanted to contribute to the downfall of a competitor...surely not?

P.S. that doesn't of course mean that I don't agree with Paul's "From the gutter to the sewer" comment...they're all rats in a sack, just get wound-up with BBC bias ;-)

I noticed this morning that several papers were headlining with this but what they're implying has not been substantiated.

They seem to be saying "Here's one fact, here's another so, therefore, all this other shit is true."

To me, it's utter bollocks.

I agree and to be honest despite the despair that these sort of revelations produce it is starting to piss me off. No wonder journalists are right down there with politicians in the list of people we despise!

Well it's gone quiet now and the news has moved onto Chris Jefferies.

Thanks for the comments, very interesting.
