Oh Boy!
This is the most talked about interview of the week and you can view it two ways depending on whether or not you think its car crash television or an attempt at making sure your answers to questions cannot be manipulated by the media.
This was a pooled interview carried about by an ITN journo on behalf of ITN, BBC and the evil empire. It's the sort of media performance that recalls the spirit of Chris Morris in his heyday. I was really hoping that Ed would end the interview by warning of the dangers of strikes by adding, "We know that the short term dangers of strikes are death, we don't know yet about the long term effects."
Miliband's muddle was painful to watch and he clearly had a splinter up his arse as he sat on the fence and tried to appease his own party backers (the unions) whilst not being painted into a corner by 'middle Britain'.
Just as an add-on and not wishing to show bias I used to like Michael Gove when he was in opposition and he added a little froth to political programmes but as a Cabinet Minister he's just plain annoying. Why were the school closures on Thursday any more damaging than the closures last year for the General Election and why was taking the kids out for the day any more damaging than those holidays taking in term time? Children have been used as a political football by all parties for as long as I can remember and will continue to be used as such as long as politicians can breathe.

LOL! very nearly posted this; I had read it on several blogs and seen a couple of robot/dalek piss takes. Having read the text of teh interview I had great difficulty forcing myself to listen to the end!
He's a shocker.
I agree 100% with your comment about children and political footballs : it's a bloody disgrace, isn't it?
P.S. My wife lost her job on Thursday. She's got another one but the salary might not even by half what it was.
Sorry to hear that Shy, I may be changing jobs next month and am shitting my pants and being calm all at the same time!
Sorry to hear that Shy.
Re the echools, were the closures for the same reason? I suspect so: closing "failing" schools and starting academy schools etc. It's a continuation, very Blairite, and hopefully will blossom; that said education is the political football you mention. Gove (and Gibbs) are the same in this respect. I thought the following was good re Gibbs from 'your mate' John Rentoul:
