This just pisses me off to be honest and the saga of Box Hill gets more surreal everyday. Everybody with an interest in attending the part of the race that goes through this managed site knew that numbers would be limited, that was clear from the outset but how does making the 15,000 possible spectators help the event? The whole thing just gets more tawdry and the suggestion that the money will go towards financing amenities or facilities is an insult to most cycling fans and to anybody interested in watching the first chance that Team GB has of winning a medal in our 'home' Olympics.
Having been to the closing stage in Paris and the opening stage in London I can assure the organisers that most people arrive at these events with food and water and basically just need somewhere to have a pee should it become necessary, surely the funding of portaloos could come out of the Olympic central funding?
What with access to Weymouth Prom being subject to a Willy Wonka type gold ticket and the possible entry fee for Box Hill I'm beginning to lose any interest in actually attending either of the two closest events to my home. I suppose I could charter a fishing boat but I have a horrible thought that the Royal Navy will be lurking somewhere off Durdle Door.

It's beginning to sound like only those paying members will see anything, everyone will be under curfew with blackout curtains fitted so you can't accidentally get a glimpse of something.
I know it shouldn't but that did make me laugh. It's got worse this morning with the Sunday Times running a story that there were only 29,000 tickets out of 80,000 made available to the public for the 100m final.
