Watch it and smile

There's a lot of cynicism in the air at the moment but this video for Bombay Bicycle Club's 'Light's Out, Words Gone' is simple and brilliant. The video was shot in Merida, Mexico by the Italian production team of UnaRegiaDiMauroBlasetti and was actually the winner in a competition held by the band and their record company last August. The winners were given a prize of £2,500 and the opportunity to shoot a video for one of the tracks off what was then the new album A Different Kind of Fix, a beautiful album which is different to pigeon hole but is simply a pleasure to listen to.

The winning video seems to have found the band a new lot of admirers as it now has over 1 million hits on You Tube. All seven finalists are here, and if I could have placed a vote then I would have given the winner first place and the British video, directed by Rob & Rob, second place because it looks exactly the way a video of mine would look!
