A Camera Should Be The Least Of Their Worries

I can't help thinking that some photographs of the Royal baps in French, Italian and Irish magazines/newspapers should causing more of a security worry than it has. The media seems to be tying itself in knots over the legality of such photographs, the hounding of William's wife in the same way his mother was and a lot of debate over whether or not the holiday home they were staying in was close to the public road or not. What seems blindingly obvious to me is that firstly somebody knew they were coming and secondly if the photographs are good enough to warrant publication then the camera owner must have been closer to the property than the distance needed for a military standard sniper.

Very true, a lot closer, didn't even need to be a sniper rifle.

Yes, I understand that some snipers can kill at a distance of about a mile : surely the photographer was much closer.

I suspect that, behind the scenes, there are some right royal (no pun intended) bollockings being dished out.

Having looked at the photographs I reckon the photographer was using a 600mm from about 500-600 metres away. The facial features aren't that great which indicates he was at the end of his zoom range, William actually looks more like his uncle Prince Edward and the naked arse could be anybody (and no, I don't mean Prince Harry).

My Tour De France photographs - the action ones - were taken towards the end of the 200 mm range from about 200 metres and you could still indentify each member of the Sky team.

from 300 to 600 meters a marksman (or just a good shot) could do it with a 'normal' assault rifle.

I hope nobody is monitoring this thread!
