We lost our Internet connection last night, the telephone line was still working but no ADSL. It's always frustrating when this happens, likewise when the weather is so bad we lose most of our SKY programmes. The frustration isn't with losing the Internet or the television but the fact that at the end of our front path is a connection point for cable. Every couple of weeks (or so it seems) we get a personalised mailshot from one company or another suggesting we switch to there particular version of hyper speed connectivity, the speeds look great, the price looks great but a quick search using our postcode reveals that we aren't in an area covered by this particular service - if only the prospective supplier would do the entering of our postcode before doing the mailshot!
Anyway our connection was restored this morning and I thought I'd go on the BT site to try and find out if the problem was widespread (given the horrendous weather of the past three or four days) or localised. There wasn't anything about our telephone area but of the fifteen outstanding and unresolved issues twelve were due to 'suspected cable thefts'.
