Meant to post this last week but events got the better of me.
Tony Adams and Graeme Le Saux were the guests on Goals on Sunday (SKY) last week. I've also admired Tony Adams and I still can't understand (as is the case with Ray Parlour) how they could have slipped through the West Ham net given that they were born in Dagenham and Romford respectively.
Anyway Tony Adams was asked if he had ever thought about or being asked to think about leaving Arsenal and he said that only once had he thought about it. Shortly after he had 'come out' as an alcoholic Arsenal were approached by Manchester United, the initial contact was made by Bryan Robson, and Adams admitted that he was flattered enough to give the matter some serious consideration. He said that he had spoken to the Arsenal Chairman and had told him that he was worried that the club didn't have any ambition because they hadn't won a trophy for eighteen months! The Chairman reassured him, Adams said that mentally it wasn't the right time anyway and that shortly afterwards Dennis (Bergkamp) and Platty (David Platt) arrived and things took off from there.
