Well no actually. Today is the sixtieth birthday of the modern bikini which was invented by French engineer Louis Reard and fashion designer Jacques Heim and introduced to the world in Paris on 5 July 1946. Apparently women in Paris were wearing bikinis one year before the bikini was "invented," a fact documented with pictures in the July 16, 1945 issue of Life Magazine.

Yes Span, I googled 'Bikini Pictures' and it seemed the best one on the first two pages (or should I say the most appropriate for a blog!)
You only looked at two pages? Blimey I would call that very cursory research...
