Don't Wish Too Hard You Might Get What You Wish For

So the FA has got the 'showpiece' it wanted to launch the new era at Wembley, the embarrassment that would have been Blackburn v Watford has been avoided.

For many neutrals the game will be between free flowing, multi million pound buying, not quite as legendary as Liverpool, Manchester United and anti-football, multi-multi million pound buying, not quite as exciting as paint drying Chelsea.

I'm not going to knock Chelsea's style I've backed them up on national radio but an F.A Cup Final is the end of season showpiece and it must be hoped that Manchester United can bring out the carefree side of Mourinho rather than have them clam up the way Arsenal did to their shame two years ago. A sunny day on May 19 with two sides going at each other for ninety minutes would be a fitting end to the domestic season.

Joe Lovejoy predicted in The Times this weekend that Manchester United will win the league and cup double with the Champions League going to Chelsea. That of course assumes that Liverpool and Milan roll over and have their combined eleven times European Champions bellies rubbed.

Whilst we are talking of the top two teams in the country, haven't the members of the PFA made a mistake with their nominations for the two end of season awards - why no Michael Essien?

Absolutely agree with you about Essien. Incredible that he's not included but Fabregas is.
