Get Me On The Couch Quick!

The lady in the photograph is Irish novelist Edna O'Brien. Now I've never met Edna, never read one of her books and I can only remember seeing her interviewed once on T.V, but despite this knack of avoiding her I dreamed about her last night.

Most dreams or parts of dreams I can attribute to what's been happening in my life, what's on my mind, something I may have seen on TV or read in a book, magazine or newspaper but I can't for the life of me find the Edna connection.

We watched Hot Fuzz last night and although there were a couple of gory bits I have to say it was the funniest film I've seen in years and probably the funniest British film I've seen since the Parole Officer - ask me tomorrow and I might remember a more recent offering. Well anyway into my dream from Hot Fuzz came a goose, in my dream it actually changed from a goose into a collie dog. Parts of London were closed after 5 in the evening because of a spate of car bombs, this is going to play hell with next weekends Tour De France and my car turned into a Routemaster bus so I could help people escape from the bombings. Okay, so far so normal for my dreams but where does Edna O'Brien come in?

What was even stranger was that she came to see me, not for accounts or tax advice, because she was having problems with her skincare and I suggested she stopped washing with soap.

I'm sure if I ever look back on my blogs this well make some sense but not at the mo.

dreams are fantastic, if only someone could invent a dreamamker, some nights are very quiet others are rip-roaring rollercoasters...re the invention..tehre is one, strong cheese before bed :-)

P.S. if I dreamt about EO'B I wouldn't know it, did you know it was her or was the dream Edna very different in looks but called EO'B?

I think "Hot Fuzz" is a class film. That's probably because a huge part of my mind hasn't developed since I was 15!

To be honest, I'm glad I've found someone else who enjoyed it because people at work don't seem to like that sort of thing.

She was called Edna O'Brien, she had red hair and green eyes like the author - no idea where the 'inspiration' came from.

Agree Shy it was great fun. I think I'll need a weekend to work my way through the extras disc - there's over three hours worth on there I believe.

I had to read one of her books for English O level - think it was called Girl with Green Eyes.

Good writer as far as I can recall - give her a go (reading wise I mean)
