Please don't be another Adrian Chiles, Tim.

Do you remember when you used to share Tim Lovejoy with just Helen Chamberlain, a studio full of footie nutters and half a dozen people at home watching in their dressing gowns, clutching a mug of coffee? Well somebody has decided that Tim is the new Adrian Chiles.

Of course Tim has the instant advantage that, unlike West Broms most famous spectator, he doesn't have a face like a dog that's just licked piss off a nettle, but he's starting to spread himself about a bit. First there was his training as a speed cop on Fifth Gear, then came BBC1's Something For The Weekend where he tries to mix cooking and chat and looks distinctly bored, then Channel 5's BeckhamUSA and now the 5Live phone-in 6-0-6.

I like Tim, even though he, or at least his production team, seem to take the same gags from one programme to another, hoping that the new audience will enjoy them whilst his existing supporters will nod knowingly. He keeps the fact that he supports Chelsea quiet unless he is having his leg pulled by one of his celebrity guests and he knows his subject.

My only worry is that he will become overexposed. We used to enjoy Adrian Chiles when he first started as the financial reporter on 5Live, that Black Country accent was just about tolerable in thirty second bursts at 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning but then he seemed to get everywhere. Tim is trying really hard on the Soccer USA programme to whip up enthusiasm for sport in a country which itself is trying really hard to whip up enthusiasm. Perhaps he will move away from 'niche' presenting into more mainstream, a bit like Nick Knowles or dare I say it...Adrian Chiles.
