Nathalie finished School Year 9 at lunchtime today, each year seems to go quicker than the last. We went to the school presentation evening last week and once again we were entertained by a number of the students performing musical 'acts': the school jazz band and a year nine girl singing a song from a musical (couldn't tell you which one). As I've said before the school really does have a good crop of youngsters at sport, they have tennis players and swimmers who are in the national Top 100 at this age group, there is a rower who is already in the Men's National 100 and he's only 14! Two of the footballers are training with AFC Bournemouth - the way things are going at Dean Court they'll probably be playing in the Football League soon.
Nathalie was awarded the Governors Award (third year running) which is an award based on a points table for attainment across all subjects, she also received a 100% attendance certificate keeping up her record of never having a day of school through illness since she started school aged 4. We've also received her SATS results and she achieved better than expected results in both Maths and English and in Science she was in the top set for results - the improvement she has made in every aspect of her school life has been fantastic and we are all hoping that it will continue into Year 10 when things really do start to get tough.
Oh and whilst I am praising Nathalie I met her karate teacher last Saturday and he said she will be in this winters black belt training group and if she keeps up her current performance and adds to it with some extra work she could get her black belt next year.

Well done, Nathalie!!!!
Is that "Governors Award" as in "Board of Governors" or is there a dodgy member of the local community down your way who gives school prizes", like a sort of Arthur Daley figure? :-) At my daughter's secondary school, they imposed a one year ban of the "prom" because the kids held an impromptu award ceremony with such prizes as "Pupil most likely to end up in prison" and "Pupil most likely to end up acting in porn movies".
Seriously, though, it looks like you couldn't ask for more from her.
She deserves a treat! Go on, spoil her!!!!!
