The Power Of The Internet

The eight minute and forty four seconds long video for Lady Gaga's Alejandro has today racked up an astonishing four million hits - that's four million in one day! The video has only been online for two days and has already passed the nine million mark.

She's come in for some stick as Lady G, partly because she has been accused of blasphemy and partly because she's been accused of ripping off Madonna. If you have the best part of nine minutes free it's worth listening to the song without seeing the video, yes there are influences of Madge in there but isn't the way that music like all art works, there are bits of the song that sound like Abba as well but I don't suppose Benny and Bjorn are anymore bothered that Madonna Louise Ciccone, after all, imitation is the greatest form of guaranteeing recurring royalties.

Whether it's music or painting or any art form there are few originals out there, that's why the really great and influential can be so easily recalled to mind. This isn't her best work but it's worth looking at just in case the need arises to voice your opinion down the pub tonight.

This is one vid that I think I'll give a miss. She won't last, give it a couple of years and a couple of flops...

P.S. (after a dozen comments on your other posts) I popped back a few times and left before the page really loaded as each time I read the 'One page..." etc and always thought - I don't know why! - it was the "Tate" post that you did before going away...but I see it's the new title of the blog! D'oh.

P.P.S...you won't understand that unless I tell that it should have read "Over the last week or so...I popped back...etc"

FFS. Tired...

Well thanks for popping in again and commenting. The page was down for two days due to some problems.

Yes, I agree. This track sounds like a head on collision between Madonna and Abba. The question is will Lady Gaga re-invent herself every so often like Madonna and have a long career or will she, like Abba, fall away after a few years?

I think she's clever enough to do the former but only time will tell.
