Joining the long march
Nathalie got her first job yesterday, she had sent off about forty letters around the area for a part-time job and the third reply produced an interview last Saturday morning. Having impressed at the interview she was asked back on Monday for some 'till training' and last night was offered a part-time job in a local convenience store.
We all have to start somewhere and the money will come in useful as she continues with her A levels, we've both made it clear to her though that studies come first however lucrative the offers of overtime and extra hours are. From a purely economic perspective I think the shop owner is getting a good deal, he pays the very lowest minimum wage and gets somebody who needs money and is very willing to put in the time, she also caught him at the right time as her CV and letter arrived the day before he was due to advertise the post.

very good and good luck to her: working and a willingness to work are important and will no doubt set her up for the rest of her life.
I'm all in favour of young people geting part time jobs. Quite apart from the money, it teaches them so much that, as Span says, will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
