Just Pass The Collection Tin Round
The only good thing so far about being back in the Championship is that you don't feature in the mainstream press as much as the top clubs. All the features on transfers, transfer speculation and overseas tours this week has been exclusively Premiership. But just when you thought it was safe to check out the football pages again, just to see how Fulham are progressing in the Europa League (after all it's the second week in July) up pops Carlton Cole.
The Bus Stop was on the verge of going to Stoke City, presumably because the lure of European football this season was greater than the lure of the New Den or St.Mary's, a fee of £4.5m was agreed plus 'add-ons' of £2m. Presumably the 'add-ons' would be paid if he could actually hit a cows arse with a banjo, head the ball towards the opposition goal rather than his own when five yards from their goal and thirdly stop being embarrassed about the fact that he has the speed and physique to be a bloody good player.
Anyway he's not going anywhere soon after failing to agree personal terms. I don't understand it, are house prices in Stoke on Trent so much more than in London? Has his business portfolio taken such a hit recently that it needs a huge dollop of cash?
I think players really need to take a reality check in these financial austere times we are experiencing and realise that it's not big, smart or clever to turn down the chance to play at a club that has established itself in the Premiership. Unfortunately when it comes to big, smart and clever, The Bus Stop has always been the first but never the second or third.

I hate the summer...so far everyone is planning to leave Arsenal.
I agree that players aren't the brightest sparks, however West ham do seem to supply a steady stream of players that do well elsewhere...a while back most of the England team had been in claret and blue at some stage (no doubt you told us that!)
It comes down to money and the idea that success will follow the money and vice versa. Look at Rio, went to Leeds and then had to move on because of their financial problems. Frank and Joe Cole went to Chelsea when the big money arrived, we sold Defoe, Johnson and David James because of our financial situation.
re Arsenal - I hope they haven't bought a pup in Gervinho, he did score a lot of goal last year in what wasn't a vintage season for Ligue One.
