Only the dented tins left

We always have Sky Sports News on in the morning whilst I'm having breakfast, it's light relief after waking up with John and Evan. Anyway this morning the Arsenal search for new blood was likened to a supermarket dash at which point Janis said, "But there's only dented tins left."

I know I'm not an Arsenal fan but I do admire what Arsene Wenger has done to football in this country and indeed throughout the world by introducing new training methods better diets etc but if I was an Arsenal fan a few things would be worrying me now:

1. Two wins in fourteen Premiership matches since February is relegation form
2. He needs a decent left back and so is signing a 28 year old Brazilian who plays in Turkey.
3. He needs a decent attacking midfielder and so is signing Yossi Benayoun who has played 100 games out of a possible 220 since leaving West Ham
4. He needs a 25 a goal season striker and so is signing the South Korean captain who has to complete two years national service between now and the end of 2013.
5. He needs a quality centre half and so is signing Per Mertesacker who has just had his worst season ever in Germany and is so slow he makes Gareth Barry towing a caravan look like Usain Bolt
6. Two days after Arsenal lose 2-8 at Manchester United he decamps to France to work for French television.

Of course Arsenal could look at the whole thing as an aberration, they have three relatively easy matches coming up in the Premiership, players coming back from injury as well and the whole thing could blow over.

...and blow over it will!

Maybe Arteta too.

Yes they got Arteta. I like Mertesacker a lot as a player and a change of club may well get him back his mojo.

And we've got Bendtner on loan.

You may not be surprised to learn that there are no spontaneous outpourings of unbridled joy in these parts today!
