A week off work means extra time down the gym, or rather more visits to the gym. Anyway I'm standing on the treadmill having entered my weight, desired time of exercise and as the treadmill slowly starts I press the shuffle button on my I-Pod.
First song up is this classic from 1980, second song is is this from 1973. So far so good, I carry on on the treadmill until the programmed thirty minutes are up, clean the machine and then walk over to one of the cycles, to try and compete 15km in a faster time then last Saturday - the target is always to get under 30 minutes.
Anyway I've been cycling for the best part of 12km and I've worked out (I know, I know I can't help it) that the next song should see me over the line (if it lasts around 4 minutes) and with a bit of luck closer to 29 minutes than 30. The song starts and I actually laugh out loud.
Oh, and I did the 15km in a new personal best of 28:04. I'm off to be rubbed down by one of Motorheads dancers.
