It's All About Opinions

Rob Smyth (Daily Telegraph online)

Red card: the former Everton defender Materazzi is off. He tugged back Torres 35 yards out and, while it might at a stretch have been a yellow card in itself, when you combine it with his first booking it becomes an incredibly soft red card. Torres made a meal of it, too, and Materazzi was livid with just the award of the free-kick. Then the red card came out.

James Lawton (Independent)

Matzerazzi's distinctly harsh fate, after Fernando Torres went down under relatively light pressure.

Jim Beglin (Ex-Liverpool, now ITV and a European Cup Winner)

I'm not sure it was even a foul, a yellow card seems a bit harsh nevermind a red.

Dean Saunders (Ex-Liverpool, now 5Live)

I don't think it was a foul but these days putting your arm on an opponent gets you in trouble.

Alan Green (well known Liverpool fan, 5 Live)

That was cycnical, he deserved a straight red, he was the last defender.

Lol. Well spotted. The perils of asking fans to commentate on games.
